Speech intelligibility is as much about acoustics as it is about sound systems. Therefore it makes sense to establish the parameters of the acoustic environment, and improve them where possible, before attempting to provide amplified sound in the environment.

An acoustic survey with its written report, determines the basic parameters for a sound system design. It will outline the fundamentals that the sound system has to contend with if successful sound reinforcement is to take place. Understanding your room acoustic is a major part, and sensibly the first step, in defining the sound system you require.

Advice

After we have collated all the survey information into a report, comes the important part...the practical advice. We can advise you on how to improve the acoustics, and how to minimise the unwanted effects. We can give advice on the best locations for your loudspeakers and generally how to optimise the sound system design to achieve the very best results.

We will try to prioritise the information so that you clearly understand which changes will bring the biggest improvements to the sound quality.

Can RK Sound undertake the work?

The report we provide as part of the survey details the work required to improve the acoustic environment and this work can be undertaken by suitably experienced contractors to our specifications.

Where we recommend changes to the sound system itself this can be undertaken by a suitably qualified audio contractor or in some cases we would be able to undertake the work ourselves. In this case we would quote separately for the work.

How much does an acoustic survey cost?

Costs for surveys vary according to the scope of work to be undertaken as part of the survey. It is not possible therefore to give a figure without some discussion about the parameters for the survey and the outcomes required.

We are aware that nobody likes to write a blank cheque and therefore we will give a firm estimate of the cost involved after the initial telephone discussion and before any work is undertaken.
