Case Study
Northgate Capital Services
Among the services RK Sound Engineering provide, Speech Privacy systems are becoming increasingly important in the modern office environment.
Northgate Capital Services are based in the West End of London and had a problem which needed attention.
When we visited their premises the problem appeared to be twofold. Speech privacy could not be maintained between adjacent rooms in their office. Also they did not feel confident about the privacy between their office and adjoining offices.
RK Sound Engineering investigated the possibility of using acoustic materials to control the speech break-out but these were not practical.
So, we proposed a speech privacy system that could overcome both problems.
This system consists of loudspeakers mounted above the ceiling tiles. A signal generator, equaliser and amplifier mounted in a small cabinet, produce a carefully tailored sound that filters down through the ceiling and masks intelligible speech between rooms.
The noise has to be at a low enough level to be tolerated by staff but must also be at a high enough level to be effective and must appear to be evenly distributed.
Northgate asked us to demonstrate the required sound to them before they accepted our proposals and they were adamant that the sound must not be intrusive.
They were convinced.
The finished system provides a low level masking sound which Northgate Capital are comfortable with but still provides the security they demand. It can also be turned off when boardroom conferencing is required.
We believe we have provided a flexible solution that meets the client's specific requirements.
