A unique moment at the Central Railway Station in Leipzig , Germany with tenor Paul Potts and the "Choir without Borders"

20 years after the fall of the Berlin wall, hundreds of people together with star tenor Paul Potts sing Beethoven's
"Ode an die Freude" ("Ode to Joy").

The event was initiated by T-Mobile and used for their campaign "Grenzen gab's gestern" ("Yesterday there were borders")

For us another great example to show how PanBeam loudspeakers are used in the Sound Rental Business.

System configuration:

  • 2 PanBeam PB24's used as main system
  • 4 PanBeam PB16's for side fill and effects from the rear of the hall
  • 4 PanBeam PB08's for side fill and monitoring (solo artist and choir)
  • 6 x Meyer Sound Subs, (PanBeams crossed at 125 Hz).

A spectacular event set up for the Deutsche Telekom by the Cologne based 'Show Tec/Balance Audio' in the Leipzig Hauptbahnhof (Central Railway Station and one of Europe's largest) employed multiple PanBeam steerable beam line array speakers to build up a highly accurately targeted set of "sound beams" offering the audience and the HD television makers high quality, intelligible and most importantly - musically accurate sound.

This event proved that Pan Beam's can be successfully deployed for all kind of sound reinforcement projects of any size. One of the difficult features of the venue was the very long reverberation time which under normal circumstances would have been a major problem but as the YouTube recordings demonstrate the PanBeams coped with it easily. The extremely fast set up and tuning process assisted the audio and video designers. For the video people it was very important that the PanBeams were visually unobstrusive yet the SPL needed was there, evenly spread over the audience area and offering the video recording people all the freedom they needed. PanBeams passed the test with flying colours.

PanBeam's can be used as the smallest line-array speakers available, and with the PB08 weighing in at only 7.5Kg each the audio engineers back's loved the speakers.

Using PB08's as building blocks PB16's and PB24's can be constructed in minutes which for the audio engineers is a very flexible way to apply PanBeams and makes the investment in the technology easy to justify.

PanBeam loudspeakers can be applied in many sound reinforcement applications. Because or their low profile they are very well suited for projects where cosmetics play a significant role. Sound rental companies like them because of their light weight and because adjustments to the sound beams can be made simply and quickly (on the fly) and also because PB08's can be very easily combined to form PB16, PB24, etc.

The fact that this event took place in a very reverberant room and PanBeam loudspeakers can aim sound at a very consistent sound pressure level exactly (and only) where it is needed, made it all an even better match providing clear sound for music and speech at a (more than) sufficient SPL even in such a reverberant environment.
